These descriptors mentioned above are my top 5 strengths that were outlined from the Gallup Strengths Finder. These traits have played an important role in my career with the Collaborative and in shaping my personality.
My biggest strength is harmony which means that I always look for consensus and do not enjoy conflict and seek areas of agreement. This skill has been extremely useful in my work as a Global Diplomat with the International office at UNO, where I engage international students in friendly conversation with a lively exchange of ideas, feelings, or stories to foster a climate of open sharing and help them discover mutual interests, backgrounds, experiences, or acquaintances.
My strengths of consistency and developer emphasize that I strive to treat everyone in the world equally by setting up clear rules and adhering to them, while recognizing and cultivating the potential in others. This skill has benefited me at my work as a Service Supervisor with the Collaborative and WhyArts, where I interact with diverse groups of people such as students, artists, volunteers, peers, team mates etc, in order to help nurture their talents and maximize their potentials.
My skill of empathy helps me connect to the diverse audiences I work with, helping me imagine myself in their life and situation, and sense their feelings. This skill has helped me connect well when I work with people with severe mental, learning and physical disabilities during workshops conducted by WhyArts. Finally, my skill of context means that I enjoy thinking about the past and understand the present by researching its history. This means that I learn from my mistakes, as well as the mistakes of others, such as people I interact and work with. I make sure I do not repeat the same mistakes again, thereby helping me complete tasks faster and produce quality deliverables.

Working as a Service Supervisor ( Educational Support) -
Being a Service Supervisor for the service area Educational Support, has taught me many interpersonal skills such as Leadership, Networking and Teamwork gained from guiding, mentoring and helping other Program Managers with their work within the Collaborative as well as their nonprofit organizations.
Leadership - Since all student employees of the Collaborative are required to create an E-Portfolio that reflect on their learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom, I took the initiative of creating the E portfolio first, so that it could serve as a guide for other students of the Collaborative, and also worked on training and guiding them on the process of creating one. I helped students get accustomed to the software being used and created a step by step guide as well for the same and conducted video editing workshops.
Teamwork and Networking – I serve on the COLLABORATIVE Advisory Council where I peer mentor and advise Program Managers, and oversee the projects they are working with their community partners.

Tactile Art project: Sensory - Please touch the art
- While working at WhyArts Inc, I was involved with the Tactile Art project, which aimed at creating awareness about artwork created by people with visual disability.
- I recruited and supervised the work done by volunteers at the tactile art exhibit opening. Volunteers were responsible for assisting guests, providing guided tours and answering questions. At the end of the event, I sent out the following email, thanking everyone involved for their service. My kind gesture was appreciated by my managers.
Below is one of the emails I sent out:
Omaha Public Schools Transitions program:
As part of one of the art workshops called ‘Transitions’ which was conduced at Paralyzed Veterans of America, for kids with special needs, our aim was to teach dance and theatre. During one of our team meetings we came up with the idea of filming the final performance and showcasing it to everyone involved, as a good gesture. I was involved with the following:

During one of our team meetings we came up with the idea of filming the final performance and showcasing it to everyone involved, as a good gesture. I was involved with the following:
- Filming the performance put together by around 150 kids based on what they had learnt in the entire workshop.
- Working on assembling recorded raw material into a finished product that's suitable for broadcasting using a software ‘Final Cut Pro’.
- Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronizing and storing them into files on the computer and digitally cutting the files to put together the sequence of the film and deciding what is usable.
- Showcasing the final video to higher management and get their approval to produce DVD’s of the same.
Being a student volunteer for a campus organization called Global Friends at the Univerisity of Nebraska at Omaha I help with:
- Promoting cross-cultural friendships among students from different countries.
- Help plan activities/games in multicultural settings between Americans and International students and scholars.
As a leader, I work to set an example, propose plans that convince people to support me, and demonstrate my proven track record of success.
Tata Consultancy Services:
Why Arts:
- Being part of a IT consulting firm, I learnt the importance of team work and building healthy work relationships. I was part of the production support team for the client GE - Capital and we worked on analyzing and resolving production failures.
- A production failure would involve members from different teams working together - developers, testers, production specialists, vendors, managers and clients - all to towards a common goal. I learnt to be a team player, to be respectful and value others people's ideas and to encourage my team members to contribute. It was this shared pool of knowledge and talents that kept the business running smoothy.
Why Arts:
- As the program manager for WhyArts, I am involved with a lot of people including students, artists, vounteers, peers, Collaborative employees etc and no matter what my role is I make sure to help and contribute to the best of my talents and abilities.
- During workshops I work closely together with artists and help them reach out to kids, teens and adults, and also lead design and IT related workshops as well from time to time. As part of the WhyArts team I have learnt to be a good listener, humble and sensitive to the needs of others when working with people with physical and mental disabilities.
The Collaborative:
Student Government:

Student Government:
- As a Senator for Graduate Studies, I work on creating friendly relationships with other senators and students on campus, make them feel comfortable and try to understand their issues and then take steps towards adressing them.
For me sustainability is living in such a way that we minimize our negative impact on the earth and the people we share it with, doing our best to preserve the world in its healthiest form for future generations.
Following sustainable practises both at home and the workplace is the need of the hour to which everyone can contribute. I follow the below :
