I like to lead by example and believe in putting my passion for biking to good use. I try my best to bike to everywhere I need to go - be it work, school or to a restaurant. In addition to being good form of exercise, they help to keep air clean and reduce noise pollution. I was able to make an impact on people around me and many of my friends have started biking as well. Below are some testimonials:
During one of our Student Government meetings, I invited one of our faculty, Dr. Sachin Pawaskar, who has vast experience with sustainable practices in the IT corporate sector, to be our guest speaker and talk about sustainable practices at the workplace. The aim of the session was to educate other members of the senate and answer their questions, so that they can reach out to their respective constituencies and spread awareness about sustainability.
Signature Service Days and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Omaha:
- As a supportor of sustaintable practices, I make efforts to understand how organizations are contributing and I try to help spread the word among people I know and other businesses I work with, so that our planet can be benefited in the long run.
- During Signature Service Days, I have had the priveldge to volunteer with several organizations, one of them being Habital for Humanity. I had a lot to learn from them regarding the sustainable practices they follow.
- Habitat builds sustainable homes using construction standards that focus on water and energy efficiency, safety and health, and materials conservation which are economical as well.
